GANSEVOORT, NY –David L. Smith, 77, (Formerly of Schenectady) Passed away September 20, 2022. He was born August 8, 1945 in Schenectady, NY, Son of the late Robert. D. Smith Sr. and Marjorie (Warner) Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his five siblings, Thelma (Raymond), Robert (Patricia), Mary Margaret (Richard), Richard (Denise) and Daniel (Diane).
A big thank you to his sister-in-law Diane for all her love and support during his battle with Cancer and losing his brother Danny.
David was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church and a member of the choir for over 40 years. He also served as choir director for many years. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1964-1968. He was Honorably discharged as a Sargent.
In 1969 he met Patricia Anne Uszner, marrying her the following January. They had one son, Michael, and were happily married for over 34 years until her death in 2004.
David worked at the Schenectady Trust Co. as a teller before going on to the State Bank of Albany, which became NorthStar Bank and eventually Bank of America. After 22 years in banking, he retired and went to Montgomery Ward and Taft furniture as a salesman. He became a marketing manager for 2 two apartment complexes after leaving sales. In addition, he had his own income tax business for over 45 years.
In 2006, he became a lucky man for the second time. Through a friend, he reconnected with Evangelia Kalogeras "Angie". It did not take long before they became a couple. They have been happily together for 16 years, during which time this new family became his too.
David is survived by his beloved Fiancée Evangelia Kalogeras "Angie". Son Michael, Step-granddaughter Sarah, Nieces and Nephews Raymond Stone, Theodore (Robin) Stone, Jaqueline (Peter) Bittner, Stephanie (Jeff) McCoy, Kimberly (Paula) Smith, Malinda (Douglas) Rees, April (Keith) Breischy, Joshua Smith, Christopher (Jane) Uszer, as well as his new additions to the family Stavroula (John) Kalogeras, Sophia (Gene) Hinners, Jessica, Faidona and Justin. In addition to his son and daughter in law, he loved having new daughters, granddaughters and grandsons in his life during his long battle with cancer. His fiancée Angie showed her true love for him with her personal devotion to his comfort, thank you.
