PRINCETOWN – David W. Cunniff, 35, of Princetown, passed away suddenly while serving the people of New York State as a dedicated Trooper.
David was born in Schenectady and attended Schenectady Christian School. He was home schooled during high school and graduated from the Bryant & Stratton Business Entrepreneurship Program. David was a 2004 graduate of the New York State Police Academy. He was proud to be a Trooper and shared his remarkable people skills in every encounter.
Dave's highest priority was for his beloved wife Amy and sons Caleb and Zachary. He was determined to provide the best opportunity for his family through traveling, and an unparalleled focus of love and joy. Along with his soul mate and beloved wife of 14 years Amy, they were chapter leaders for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), raising money for treatment and cure after their son Caleb was diagnosed with this degenerative neuro-muscular disease in 2009. Dave and Amy worked diligently to advocate for those in need in the SMA community.
Dave was a talented musician and an active member of the worship team at Grace Fellowship. He played the electric guitar among numerous other instruments. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.
Dave is the devoted son of Kenneth D. and Deborah Lanphear Cunniff. He is the loved big brother of Lynn (John G.) Nuzback, Sarah (Matthew) Reinemann and Christine (Shaun) McDonald. He is the beloved grandson of Beverly Lanphear and the son in law of Paul and Linda Hobson. Dave is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and associates at the New York State Police.
Funeral services with full Departmental Honors will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Grace Fellowship, 20 Delatour Rd., Latham. Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 8 pm at Grace Fellowship. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
In keeping with Dave's unending concern for others, his legacy will live on through organ donation in honor of Caleb and others battling serious illness.
