LATHAM - Deborah A. Carpenter, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Debbie was born on June 20, 1958 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha (LaPlante) Malo. She graduated from Cohoes High School - Class of 1976. She was a secretary for NYSUT in Latham for many years before retiring. She loved her therapy dog, Otis, where she brought him to area nursing homes to give comfort to the residents. They would see them coming and say "here comes Otis". She enjoyed dancing and hiking, but most especially spending time with her friends.

Debbie is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Donna M. and Don Kane; her sister-in-law, Patricia Burns; and her nieces and nephews, Kim (Steve) Kozak, Kevin (Tina) Kane, Kathy (Nick) Holland, Chris Malo, and Pam Malo. She is also survived by her dear friends, Carol (Dan) Bristol and Debbie Powers, she was always dependable and caring during Debbie's illness. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Carl Malo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Debbie.
