SCHENECTADY
Deborah A.Dobbins was born August 14, 1969 in Harlem, NY to Mattie Jane Longmire and James Dobbins.
Deborah attended NYC public schools, she graduated from Louis D. Brandeis High school.
Deborah located to Schenectady, NY where over the years she worked several jobs as a Patient Care Technician at Albany Medical Center, a Telephone Representative for Nesco Resources, and Librarian at Schenectady County Library
Deborah loved learning and believed in Education she went back to school in 2016 where she obtained her Associates degree in Paralegal Studies from Schenectady Community College.
Deborah belonged to several Organizations including the Sister Sistah Circle, The Hamilton Hill Arts Center, The Family Life Center of the City Mission in Schenectady, The Maranatha Ministries, The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and the NAACP.
Deborah founded her own Ministry called "You are not Forgotten" a Ministry for the sick and shut in. Deborah and her dog Royalty would volunteer at various nursing homes and the Northwoods Hilltop Rehabilitation Center; there she would bake cookies one of her favorite things to do bring gifts sing and recite poetry for those who were in nursing homes with no visitors. She let them know that they were not forgotten.
Deborah was kind, loyal, empathetic, caring, hardworking ,compassionate, smart and a philanthropist. She loved cooking, arts and crafts, poetry, visiting and spending time with the elderly.
Most of all Deborah loved the LORD, she taught Bible study to the youth at New Vision Church in Newburgh NY; she wanted everyone that she came in contact with to know "JESUS". She would always encourage everyone to read GOD'S word and pray.
Debbie found her peace and comfort in her Gospel Music. Debbie loved children she was a surrogate mother to so many, she always encouraged reading and writing. In 2017 Deborah joined New Bethel COGIC where she immediately felt the love of her church family.
Debbie's pride and Joy was her dog Royalty Dobbins, he brought her so much comfort, joy and peace. Debbie believed in Family she was loved by many and had so much love to give; showing love was effortless for her. Helping others was her gift. Her smile would light up a room, her kindness and soft voice will always be remembered.
On November 4, 2022. God called Debbie home. Her work here was completed.
Proceeded Debbie in death Mother Mattie Jane Longmire; Father James Dobbins; older Sister and best friend Gloria Longmire; Grandmother Marie Williams; her son and baby Royalty Dobbins.
Debbie leaves to mourn her two sisters Diana and Melissa ; one brother Anthony; five nieces and nephew, two great nephews; one great niece; two life long sister friends Anita and Kim; one good friend Gene and her special boy Kai Williams and many other relatives and friends.
I've fought a good fight,
I've kept the faith.
Do not grieve for me for I am free.
I am asleep in the Lord,
so fill your days with loving words
and carry on in my honor
For now I rest
