RENSSELAER – Deborah C. McElroy Marshall Elrod, 48, passed away on Monday evening, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late James H. and Crysta Andersen McElroy. She is the granddaughter of the late H. Melanie St. John and James H. McElroy Sr.
Debbie lived in Rensselaer for most of her life before moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1993. She attended Rensselaer High School. Debbie love to crochet and adored her beloved animals.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul D. Elrod; her devoted brothers and sisters, Leonard (Bonnie) Andersen, Melanie (Steve) Skidmore, John (Donna) Zaloga, Joyce (Tom Breslin) Sousa, and Dorine (Jim) DeLutri. She is the dear friend of Shirley- Ann Marshall Mahar and Nancy Lynn Williamson. Stepdaughter of Betty McElroy. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A service in celebration of Debbie's life will be offered at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Debbie's name to Cancer of America, 2901 Breezewood Lane, Knoxville, TN 37921.
