Deborah (Debbie) Davis Hahn, age 68, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 6, 2022. Debbie was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Debbie was the daughter of the late Dorothy and William Davis of Schenectady, New York. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Daniel Hahn, her three children David Hahn, Deirdre Hahn and DeAnne Sapel (Michael). She is also survived by her brother, William Davis, her nieces Michelle Davis & Susan DeRocher (Erik) and her three grandchildren, Isaac, Harper, and Irena.
After graduating high school, Debbie attended The College of Saint Rose, where she studied Education and Biology. She was a stay-at-home mother while her children were young. She was presently employed at Albany Medical Center, but her true passion was her art and creating. Debbie and her mother co-owned the small business The Painted Door, where she would sell her work at art shows and craft fairs. Debbie's booth would often sell out and customers would return year after year to buy her work. She later worked with her daughter creating and selling homemade cheesecakes and paper crafts.
In her later years, what was most important to Debbie and what brought her the most joy was being a grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, going on vacations to Disney World and Cruising in the Caribbean.
What first comes to mind when remembering Debbie by those who knew her, was her kindness and comforting presence. Debbie was welcoming to everyone and would make sure her friends, family and co-workers felt cared for and included. She had a sharp sense of humor and infectious laughter that would fill up the room.
Calling hours will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glenville, New York (547 Saratoga Rd, Schenectady, NY 12302). A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 pm.
Debbie's final wishes are that her ashes be laid to rest at Stellwagen Bank off Provincetown, Massachusetts. Debbie always felt at peace there, surrounded by the beauty of the open ocean and the Humpback Whales.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
