Delores Elaine Miller

September 19, 1936 — March 11, 2024

On Monday, March 11, 2024, the Angel of the Lord felt it befitting to escort to His heavenly home, Delores Elaine Miller, as she passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York.

Delores E. Miller affectionately known as "Bay" or "Mother Miller" was born on September 19, 1936, in Yonkers, NY to the late Samuel and Felisha Weaver Johnson. In 1953, Delores was married to the late Robert L. Miller and from that union was blessed with three children, Richard, Lisa, and Donna. Delores was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Delores worked for the US Postal Service before pursuing a career in nursing. She was educated in the Yonkers Public School system and in 1972, she graduated from Yonkers School of Practical Nursing. In 1986, she graduated from Concordia College with her degree in liberal arts and later earned her nursing degree from Mount Vernon School of Nursing. In 2001, she retired from St. Joseph's Medical Center as a senior registered nurse (RN). Even after retiring, Delores continued to keep busy. Continuing in her career in nursing, she worked as an RN at Seton Health Clifton Park Family Health Center until 2017.

Delores accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and in 1992 was baptized. She became a member of Community Baptist Church in Yonkers, NY and God later moved her to New Creation Tabernacle of Fellowship. She was later led to Narrow Way Gospel Assembly and finally, after relocating with her family to Troy, NY she joined the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. At Mount Pleasant and under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend William Morgan, Delores became a member of the Pastor's Aide ministry, and the Growing in Grace Ministry and in 2017, she was given the honor of becoming a Church Mother. She took pride in being a mother of the church and enjoyed the time she spent with her church family.

Delores was a loving, kindhearted, family-oriented Woman of God with a strong faith. It was because of these virtues that she was able to touch so many lives with encouragement, love, and joy. She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as praising God and giving Him all the glory. She loved being surrounded by her loving family and loved to cook and bake. She truly loved shopping with her granddaughter Patrice whom she shared a special bond. She enjoyed going fishing and loved eating her seafood.

Along with her parents and her husband, Delores is predeceased by her sister, Rhoda Davis Coles, her beloved daughter, Minister Lisa Miller Smith, her grandmother Mary Weaver, her aunt Anna Mae Johnson and her stepfather James Bullard.

Mother Delores Miller leaves to cherish her loving memory, her son Richard (Mary) Miller, daughter Donna (Russell) Miller, both of Troy, NY, eight grandchildren, Anthony Miller, Russell Miller, Ebane Smith, Felisha Miller, Patrice Walker, Brittany Miller, David Massey and Jalen Miller and ten great grandchildren, brother Richard Johnson, Beverly Hills, CA, stepsister Gail Courtney, Bronx, NY, son in law Russell Smith and her special niece Fatima Davis, whom she helped raise. She also loved as her own Renee Nowlin, Pastor Jamelle Pace Blue, Tameka McDaniel, Precious Simmons and Jason Franklin, and her daughter in Christ Deacon Doris Shannon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her Mount Pleasant Baptist Church family.

Visitation will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 441 Washington Ave., Albany on Saturday, March 16 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:30 am. Interment will be on Monday, March 18 at 11:30 am in Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave, Valhalla, NY 10595.
