GUILDERLAND - Delwin H. Damon, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Delwin was born in Short Tract, NY, on November 12, 1936 and was the son of the late Thomas F. and Ruth A. (Barney) Damon. He served proudly in the US Air Force. He worked as a bridge design review, structure design and construction for the N.Y.S. DOT for many years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed photography, lapidary, bird watching, and traveling.
Delwin is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lee F. (Ernst) Damon; his daughters, Cheryl Damon and Melanie Ramsey (Mark); his grandchildren, Samantha Ramsey, Joshua Ramsey, and Nicholas Franco; his sister, Gwenevere Russell (the late Dale); his brother, Deo Damon (Sue); his sister-in-law, Elaine Damon; his in-laws, James and Karen Ernst; his friend, Carmine Franco; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Delwin was predeceased by his infant daughter, Debra Kaye Damon; his brother, DeMerle Damon; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mariel and Ernest Aylor and Roberta and Hollis James.
A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m. in Memory Gardens in Colonie. (meet inside the gates at 10:45 a.m.).
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Peregine Senior Living, Clifton Park, for the wonderful care given to Delwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Eddy Alzheimer's Services, 420 Columbia St., Cohoes, NY 12047 in memory of Delwin.
