YORKTOWN, VA-- Dennis Friebel, age 78, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family on February 25, 2021.
He was born in Albany, NY, the son of the late Edward and Laura Friebel. He was predeceased by a son Michael Friebel.
Dennis attended Schenectady Community College and earned his Associates Degree. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 as an Aircraft Fuel System Specialist. He also retired from General Electric as a Claims Specialist.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #315 in Newport News, VA.
Dennis enjoyed golfing, yardwork and all his dear friends at the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Steven Friebel; step son, Shane Zelker; step daughter, Kelly Zelker; brother, Edward Friebel; sister, Susan Friebel, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was considered the "Mayor" of Glenkinchiey Court by his wonderful neighbors and special friends, Al and Manu Underwood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Entombment with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 10 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY. Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
