COLONIE – Dennis G. Gervais, 77, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2009. Born in Vermont, he was the son of the late Tuffield and Elizabeth Gervais. He resided in Colonie for over 53 years. Dennis was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Hale. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Dennis enjoyed hiking and walked 2 miles a day in Cook Park. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Dennis is the beloved husband of 55 years to Shirley A. Gervais. He is the devoted father of Sharon (Ed) Kay, David (Jill) Gervais and Brian (Maribeth) Gervais. He is the loving brother of Marie Rockenstyre. Dennis is the cherished grandfather of JaAni and Eric Gervais. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Christ the King Church at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral. The parish family of Christ the King will gather on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
