Dennis McCormick

Dennis Michael McCormick, 80, of Altamont, New York, passed away on March 6, 2025, at Eddy Memorial, surrounded by his loving family. 

Dennis was a devoted husband to his wife of 44 years, Laura, and a proud father to his three children, Chrystie Stafford of Voorheesville, NY; Aaron (Shannon) McCormick or Warwick, RI, and Kim (Edward) Beck of Schenectady, NY. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to his nine grandchildren - Michelle, Michael, Alexander, Mandara, Devi, Malakai, Rowan, Paolina, and Liliana. 

Born in Troy, New York on May 6, 1944 to John and Alma McCormick, Dennis assumed the role of mentor and care-taker early in life as the oldest of six siblings – Sharon (Geoff) Millar of Chandler, AZ; Sean (Linda) McCormick of Rensselaerville, NY; Timothy (Sharon) McCormick of Schenectady, NY; Kathleen (John) Kirlew of Doylestown, PA; Nora (Michael) Porter of Poestenkill, NY. 

A proud Navy veteran, Dennis served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He was also a long-time member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge #2223 and the Greenwich VFW Post 7291, where he formed many lasting friendships. 

Dennis had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and gardening – each of which he acquired a high level of expertise by virtue of his curiosity, focus, and strong work ethic. 

He had a voracious appetite for knowledge, continually cultivating endless new skills and hobbies. His warm smile and wry wit will be missed.

Dennis’ remains will be laid to rest later this year at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, with a private Celebration of Life service to follow. To honor his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made in Dennis' memory to the The Alzheimer's Association or The Parkinson's Foundation.
