Dennis Smith

Dennis Smith, 60, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010.

Dennis, the son of the late Nellie Cabey and John Smith, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Albany twenty years ago and had called the capital region " home" ever since. Dennis worked as a chef at the Marriott on Wolf Rd., Colonie, and as a rehab counselor with Paul House of Troy and ACC in Albany. After spending so many years in Brooklyn, Dennis found a love of the outdoors enjoying camping and fishing and traveling around the Adirondacks and across the country. Anyone that met and talked to Dennis would ask him how he was doing. His response was always, " I'm blessed."

He is survived by Linda Davis his devoted wife of ten years, his daughter D'Andrea Smith, his grandson Antonio Ashby Jr., and cousins Delores Cabey, James Hester, Phillip Hester, and Jackie Belmar. Dennis cherished all his cats, two in particular - Patrick and Thomasina. Dennis was predeceased by his son Dennis Kelly and his cousin Sandra Hester.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Douglas Fish and his wonderful assistant Cynthia McDaniels and also Sylvester Bell for all the great health care and compassion they gave Dennis.

The funeral service will be Tuesday7:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
