ALBANY

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Desarea Morris Drumgo, who died peacefully on September 6, 2024, at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away at Delmar Center in Bethlehem, NY.

Desarea was born on October 4, 1962, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to the late Landsey Morris and Bernice Harris (née Nicholas). She nurtured a passion for helping others, a deep connection to her faith, and a love for family that would shape the course of her life.

A proud alumna of Hudson Valley Community College, Desarea studied Business Administration while embarking on a fulfilling career as an IT Specialist. For the past 23 years, she was a dedicated employee of the New York State Office of the Comptroller, where her technical skills and commitment to excellence made her an invaluable part of the team.

Desarea’s life was made even richer by her love story with her husband, Kenneth Drumgo. Together, they spent 22 years as devoted partners, building a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Desarea is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; her children, Jasmine Morris, Jayson Brooks, Michael Beeks, and Gregg Morris; her sister, Sabrina Morris; her brother, Len Morris; and her adored grandchildren, Gianni Morris and Jazel Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Landsey Morris and Bernice Harris, and her sister, Barbara Light. She also leaves behind a large, extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family through her ministry and outreach.

Desarea's unwavering faith in God and dedication to her ministry were the pillars of her life. Through her work, she touched countless souls, offering guidance, encouragement, and love to those who needed it most. She used her life experiences as a testament to God’s grace, always ready to counsel and lift others with her wisdom, kindness, and words of comfort.

In addition to her spiritual devotion, Desarea loved spending time with her family, traveling, and reading. Her bright, energetic, and humorous personality lit up every room she entered. She was known for her contagious laughter, radiant smile, and her unique ability to bring joy and hope into the lives of others.

Desarea leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. Her impact on those who knew her will never be forgotten, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to cross her path.
