SLINGERLANDS - Devin M. Whelan, 31, son of Jim and Maggie Whelan from Slingerlands transitioned peacefully on July 9th, 2016 with family and friends by his side.
For the last ten years, Devin made his home at Warren House a Catholic Charities residence where he was cared for and loved.
He has ten brothers and sisters, Colleen Garbarini, Jim Whelan (Rebecca), Dan Whelan (Debbi), Shannon Whelan, Matthew Whelan (Meghan), Margaret Mary Whelan, Julie Whelan, Melissa Whelan, Angel Whelan and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister Bridget.
He will be remembered for his mischievous spirit and hearty laugh.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will begin at 7pm following calling hours. Family will not be wearing black but instead bright colors to signify the joy Devin represented.
Contributions can be made to Journey United Church of Christ, Glenmont and the Dominican Retreat and Conference Center's Retreat for Person's with Disabilities. Private graveside services will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Schenectady.
