Albany~

Dian Lucille Anderson, 87, of Albany, peacefully entered the Kingdom of God on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Born in Bloomsburg, PA on December 10, 1930, Dian was the daughter of the late Warren and Mary (White) Davis.

She was educated in the Bloomsburg public school system and graduated from Bloomberg High School. She later received a licensed practitioner nurse certificate from the Albany Medical Center.

She came to Albany, New York in 1953 for vacation with her cousins. During this visit she met Frank E. Anderson who she later married in December of 1954. To this Union six children were born Danna, Lance, Frank, Wayne, and twins Jarrett and Jon.

Dian was employed with the Albany Medical Center, the VA Hospital, and the Watervliet Arsenal. She retired from the Arsenal in 1985.

After retirement she had several babysitting jobs for families who loved and appreciated her. She also babysat for the YMCA. She truly loved children. She would sing, dance, and take the children places to learn new things.

Dian was fearless, had a great sense of humor, and was very adventurous. She enjoyed jumping in her car and going wherever those four wheels took her. She often talks about the last trip she took with her baby sister Linda to Virginia. She really enjoyed spending that quality time with her alone.

Every fall she and Wayne would ride to the apple orchard to look at the fall foilage, buy apple cider, and Donuts. From time to time she would sneak away to a casino, and she also enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She was an excellent baker and is famous for her brown sugar coffee cake.

She truly loved her family and community. In 1964 she and a group of working mothers from the Green Street projects submitted a proposal to the Albany Housing Authority to provide an on-site daycare center. The group enlisted Governor Peter Young and Mario Cuomo for assistance. The daycare open that same year and was a great success!

Dian was predeceased by her husband Frank, brother Thomas, sister Hilda, and sons Jarrett and Lance. She leaves to cherish her memory a sister Linda Jones (George) of Harrisonburg. PA.
