Diana Burrus, 57, daughter of the late Juanita Burrus, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday August 6, 2009.
Diana "Lady Di" as she was often called by friends and family, was born in Albany and was a lifelong area resident. Diana was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in Coeymans, NY. She is a graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School and received her Associate's Degree from La Salle University. Upon completing her degree she worked as a secretary for New York State governor's office for 20+ years, until her health began to decline. She loved to host her "waiting to exhale parties," in addition to spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren. Lady Di loved to shop and was always dressed to the nines from head-to-toe.
She is survived by son Paul (Nakia) Tonic, Grandchildren: Paul "PJ" Tonic Jr. and Tyshaun D. Tonic, fiancé Michael Westbrook, sister Pam Wilson, Honorary children: Brian, Anthony, James, Kenneth, Kevin, Donald, Tawn Tonic and a host of close relatives.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 12 noon at Riverview Baptist Church, Westerlo St., Ravena, NY. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 am to noon at the church.
