COLONIE – Diana Harder-Clynes, 68, peacefully passed into eternal life on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Washington D.C. she was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Nelson. She lived in Albany and Colonie for most of her life. Diana was a well known, professional makeup artist for several major department stores and the resident makeup designer for Park Playhouse for twenty years. She was noted for her artistic makeup abilities in movies, commercials and weddings. Diana especially enjoyed helping cancer patients through Gilda's House helping them appreciate their lives. She was an adjunct professor for Albany State, specializing in theatrical makeup.
Diana is the beloved wife of John F. Clynes. She is the second Mom to Michael, Matthew and Eileen Clynes. Diana is the loving sister of Linda Webber, Pamela DeLoach and the late Peter Nelson. She is the cherished aunt of Paul Kranick, Kimberly Schaffer, Christine Moran, Robert DeLoach and Rachel Anderson and great-aunt of Jeremy, Devon, John and Logan. Also surviving is her goddaughter, Rachel Dong. Diana was an adopted mother to many and supported many charitable organizations. Diana's family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to their many friends who helped them through this trying time. They would also like to thank the staff of Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Albany Oncology Hematology and Community Hospice of Albany for the care and support given to Diana during her illness.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Diana Harder-Clynes.
