NISKAYUNA – Diane Lynn Myers, 57, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Gerald and Lois Myers.
One of Diane's greatest joys was music. She attended Niskayuna Wesleyan Church where she was involved with their worship team and found great pleasure in leading the childrens' choirs and programs. She was also a much –loved piano teacher to her many students.
Diane loved nature; moonlit walks in snow storms, campfires at Minerva Lake, the smell of fall leaves, and the beauty of flowers.
No doubt her greatest joys were her nieces and nephews, including her ten great-nephews. They brought her laughter and much pleasure and in return she spoiled them all.
She was a secretary for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and retired after 34 years. During this time, she made many close and dear friends who loved and supported her up until her passing. She loved them all!
Along with her parents, Diane is survived by her sisters Mary Myers, Kathy Forney, and Linda Hobson; uncle Marty Therrien and aunt Ellen Therrien.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thomas Goodman and his staff at Upstate Hematology Oncology for their wonderful care of Diane. Gratitude also goes to the staff at Community Hospice of Schenectady.
Finally, Diane would want you to know that the source of her strength and joy was founded in her relationship with Jesus Christ, her Shepherd. Our confidence as her family is that she is in Heaven with Him and we will join her soon.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at Niskayuna Wesleyan Church, 935 Balltown Road, Niskayuna. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
