Schenectady-Diane Louise Doty Nelson, age 64, of Schenectady, NY, died suddenly at Albany Memorial Hospital, March 12, 2008. Diane was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Duane John Doty (deceased) and Mary Dolorth Parker Doty. Diane graduated from Penn State Univ. in 1966. She married Charles Thomas Nelson April 29, 1967, in Ft. Lewis, Washington.
Diane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a supervisor at RiteAid for 23 years, an avid flower gardener, home decorator and bird watcher in her spare time. Diane was active in her church, teaching youth and adults, sang in the ward choir, and other responsibilities through the years.
She is survived by her husband Charles, Schenectady; her children, Kimberly Dolorth Nelson (American Fork, UT), Eric Lee (Gloria) Nelson (Spanish Fork, UT); Aaron Paul Nelson (Bellville, MI), Jason Duane (Star) Nelson (Decatur, GA), and Annette Nicole (Christopher) Flint (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA); and Eric's three grandchildren, Erica, Valeria and Jared. She is survived by her mother M. Dolorth Parker of State College, PA; a sister, Dellane Patricia Thomas (State College, PA); and two brothers, Daryl John Doty (Spring Mills, PA) and Daron Ralph Doty (State College, PA).
Relatives and friends may call at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Monday, March 17, from 4 to 8 pm. A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 10 to 11:45 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 52 Blue Barns Road, Rexford, New York. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the church. Interment will be in the Pine Hall Cemetery in State College, Pennsylvania on Thursday.
