McLaughlin, Dilia
Albany, NY – Dilia McLaughlin, 72, of St. Sophia Apartments passed away unexpectedly December 1, 2009 at St. Peters Hospital in Albany. Dilia came to the United States from Guatemala C. A. in 1960. She lived most of her life in the Glens Falls area working as a seamstress and eventually owning her own business, Jomar Bridal and Formal in Glens Falls. She really enjoyed helping people make their special occasion extraordinary. While in Glens Falls she enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Open Door Ministries. In recent years Dilia had moved to the Albany area and continued to work with people at Davids, Annettes and Bridal Rose. She was looking forward to finishing her home in Guatemala where she planned to reside for 6 months of the year helping people and children learn about God as well as operate a small business. Dilia's optimistic outlook on life and contagious smile will be missed by all who knew her. Dilia loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Ali, Aisha and Riley and most recently her great grandson, Jaelyn, She also enjoyed traveling around the world and learning about other cultures and people and traveled extensively with her life long friend Erika St. John of Hudson Falls. Dilia is survived by her son Michael McLaughlin and his wife Jennifer of South Glens Falls, her daughter Ingrid McLaughlin and her companion Kevin Sheline of Jacksonville, Fla., grandchildren: Ali Pounds, Aisha Pounds and Riley McLaughlin and great grandson Jaelyn Pounds.
Dilia was always a giving person and those who knew her would not be surprised that her last gift was the gift of life for others through her generous organ donation.
