GUILDERLAND – Dolores M. Balling, 87, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 06, 2006. Born in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late William and Katharine Evers McCabe. She was a Catskill resident for most of her life before moving to Guilderland. Mrs. Balling worked as an executive secretary for the F.B.I. in New York City, prior to World War II. More recently, she worked for the Catskill Central School District from where she retired in 1984. Dolores devoted her life to her faith and her family, always supporting and encouraging their endeavors, especially when it came to academic achievement. She shared in their accomplishments and proudly announced their successes. To know Dolores meant you also knew all about her family. Dolores was the beloved wife of the late John F. Balling. She is the devoted mother of Virginia (Clarence) Randall of Sebastian, FL, John J. (Diana) Balling of Saugerties, Ronnie (Dennis) Loughridge of Guilderland and Marie (Danny) Rem of Duanesburg. She is the cherished grandmother of Marie, Lori, Kristen, Derek, Katie, Amy, Jaime, Lisa, Matt and Mike. She is the loving great-grandmother of Molly and Sarah. Dolores was predeceased by her brother, Edward McCabe. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday morning at 10:00 at Christ the King Church. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 on Sunday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill.
