Dolores H. Soltysiak on July 16, 2016, at the Teresian House-Albany, NY, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ due to complications from Alzheimer's. Born in Cheektowaga, NY in 1931,
Dolores graduated from Sisters of Charity Hospital's nursing program to become a Registered Nurse, then went on to graduate from University of Michigan with a degree in Public Health. In 1956, she married Norbert Soltysiak and stayed at home to raise her 5 children. She went back to work as a Public Health RN for the City of Schenectady. In her later career, she was employed as geriatric RN at several local nursing homes, including The Teresian House in Albany and retired from her career as a School Nurse for St. Anne's Institute in Albany. Dolores had a beautiful Soprano voice and also loved to dance the polka. Dolores had determination when advocating on behalf of her beloved family or tenderly taking care and providing generously for those she ministered to as a nurse. She volunteered her nursing expertise at various Red Cross Blood drives. Dolores is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Zakulski, her brothers Billy and Ronald and grandson Alejandro Mateo.
She's survived by her children - Melinda Soltysiak-Mateo and her children Meli, Danny, Anna and Enrique of Spain, Lynne Soltysiak of Guilderland, NY, Gregory Soltysiak of Guilderland, NY, Stacey Soltysiak (Donald Martin) and their children Donald and Christine Martin of Corinth, NY, Marly Soltysiak and her son, Jozef of Guilderland, NY and her former husband, Norbert Soltysiak of Albany, NY.
Dolores is also survived by her loving sisters Rita (Arthur) Sadowski, Lorraine Beris, and Frances (Ashbel) Musselman of Buffalo area and Ann (Richard) Strickland-Florida and along with many dear nieces, nephews.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00pm.
A memorial mass will be held at 9:30am Saturday July 23, 2016, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Eden, NY.
