Dominic J. Donato

Albany- Dominic J. Donato, 93, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Carmelo and Margaret Donato. Dominic is predeceased by his loving wife Anne Marie (Gilmartin) Donato. 

Dominic served in the United States Army before his honorable discharge. He was a teacher in the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk School District retiring after 35 years. Dominic loved sports and coached basketball and football for many years. Dominic and his wife raised their family in Albany. They enjoyed traveling especially to Myrtle Beach and hosting events by the pool. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dominic is survived by his three children, Peggy Carroll (Michael), Chuck Donato (Teresa) and Joanne Dambrosio (Stephen). He was the loving “Papa” to Michael Carroll, Jessica Pizzuti (John), Conor Donato, Rylie Donato (Evan Barnett). Great grandchildren, Johnny and Luca Pizzuti.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 9:30am-1030am at The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St, Albany, NY 12208. A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30am with inurnment following at Albany Rural Cemetery.
