Dominic A. Spano, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at his home in Naples, Florida.
Born on March 7, 1938, Albany NY, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Adele (Ragosta) Spano.
In 1959 Dominic began work as a mason joining Local 6NY. In 2005, he retired as the Executive Vice President of the International Union Brick Layers. He was a true New Yorker, and loved the Giants, Yankees and was a devoted Catholic throughout his life. Dominic was also an avid traveler, and looked forward to his annual trip to Aruba.
He is survived by his brother Sebastian "Sid" Spano; daughters Susan (Bob) Spano, Jill Spano, and Jacqueline Spano; his sons Christopher Spano, and Daniel (Terry) Spano; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He will especially be missed by his lifelong cherished friend and companion, Anna.
Dominic is predeceased by his sisters, Josephine (Calka) and Frances Spano. He is also predeceased by his wife Josephine Spano.
The Spano family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the VITAS hospice team for their loving care and kindness towards our father.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals located at 343 New Karner Road, Colonie NY 12205. On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30am, in Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle Street, Albany NY 12202. Interment to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands NY 12204.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dominic's honor to VITAS Healthcare, 4980 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 103, Naples FL 34103, or by visiting vitascommunityconnection.org.
