ALBANY – Dominick A. Mariniello, 80, Sergeant First Class, joined his beloved wife, Nancy on Saturday, June 4, 2011 after a brief illness.
Dominick was born on August 8, 1930 in Troy and was the son of the late Guy Thomas and Angeline (Dividdio) Mariniello. He retired as Sergeant First Class with the US Army from 1947 to 1968, serving in the Korean War, the Dominican Republic Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After serving his country he graduated from Fayetteville Tech and then come back to the capital District where he worked as chief engineer for Holiday Inn for many years. After that he worked for Whitney Young for several years before retiring in 1994. He was a member and past master of the Apollo Lodge No. 13 of the F & AM in Troy and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Dominick is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Patty Pickering and Bruce E. and Vonda Pickering; his daughter, Victoria; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Pickering; his brother, John Mariniello; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy L. (Munton) Mariniello; his sons, Anthony Mariniello and Frederick T. Pickering and his brother, Guy "Junnee" Mariniello, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star in memory of Dominick A. Mariniello.
