COLONIE – Dominick LeMorta, 83, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness.
Dominick was born on November 4, 1923 in South Bethlehem and was the son of the late Carmelo and Maria (Biondi) LeMorta. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a truck driver for the Teamsters Local 294 in Albany until his retirement in 1983. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Clare's Church and the Joseph E. Zaloga Post #1520 of the American Legion.
Dominick is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dolores M. (Van Buren) LeMorta; his son, Dominick T. (Marjorie) LeMorta, Jr. of Schenectady; his daughter, Margaret Mary (Robert) Sousa of Foxborough, MA; his daughter-in-law, Susan LeMorta of Clifton Park; his ten grandchildren, Dominick III, Jennifer, Michael (serving in the Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan), Darren (serving in the US Army in Iraq), Gina, David, Kristi, Christina, Cassie and Robert; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Antoinette Scott; and his brother, Charles LaMorta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Flo Gulliver. He was predeceased by his son, David L. LeMorta, his sisters, Katherine Gregoli and Frances Campione and his brothers, Anthony, Sammy and Joseph LeMorta.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
