Albany – Dominick "Dom" Tarzia, 80, passed away Thursday July 31, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn.
He was born in Albany August 13, 1927 the son of the late Alice and Cosimo Tarzia. He was a self-employed contractor, successfully restoring structures of historic preservation such as 123 Madison Ave. and 123 State St. He constructed many custom built homes and apartments in Albany and surrounding areas. He served in the Army Air Corps as an airplane mechanic. He received the WW II victory medal and was honorably discharged in 1947.
He is survived by his daughter Pam Tarzia of Fredericksburg, VA, his grandchildren; Joseph, Michael and Samantha Tarzia and Cameron Kysor, great-grandchildren Skyar and Anthony, his sisters; Terrry (Ambrose) Rinaldi, Anne (Aldo) Zanotta and Matilda (James) Duncan. Dom is also survived by his most devoted and loyal cousin Bill Lombardo as well as cousins; Salvatore and Vincenzo Tarzia and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 10:00 am from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt 155 south of Central Ave) then to Christ the King Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am. Calling hours will precede the service from 8:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
