Donald J. Brown

Malta- Donald J. Brown, 63, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 21, 2016 at his home in Malta. The son of the late Donald F. and Agnes (Chagnon) Brown. Don was born on May 6, 1953 in Schenectady. He was a graduate of Linton High School and went on to earn an Associate's Degree in business and finance. He worked as a financial planner for NPA Financial in Schenectady. Don served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Don enjoyed being with friends and family and trips to Mexico. He served as President in the Kiwanis Club of Schenectady and the Lt. Governor for the New York district of Kiwanis International.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Theresa (Koop) Brown; his daughters: Courtney Gelish, Cayelan (Michael) Morris; his siblings: Wayne (Judy) Chagnon, Richard (Carol) Chagnon, Debbie Ditoro; his step-daughters: Heidi (Donald) Childs, Krissy (Kurt) Jackson, Elizabeth Kunath; his six beloved grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his step-father Donald Bordwell.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, December 28 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 29 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
