GUILDERLAND, NY – Donald C. Abraham, 62, of Guilderland, passed away Wednesday morning, March 26, 2008 at home, surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 8, 1945 in the Town of Perth, and was the fifth of eleven siblings growing up on the family dairy farm. A graduate of Perth High School and Camp Lejeune, NC, Don was a marksman with the United States Marine Corps serving in Vietnam at the peak of the war in 1969, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant. Don worked for 30 years for the highway department for Saratoga County, and more recently with Delaware Engineering as an Environmental Construction Inspector for projects in Ticonderoga and the Catskills. Don was an avid lover of the outdoors, camping throughout the United States and Canada with his family. He continued his love for shooting well into the late 1980's, and held several NRA championship titles. Don is the beloved husband of Mary Abraham and devoted father of Rachel Abraham. He is the loving brother of Raymond Abraham of Piseco, Lillian (the late Harold) Hill of Glenville, Luther (Lera) Abraham of Beaumont, TX, Howard (Darla) Abraham of Perth, Robert (Carol) Abraham of Mayfield, Ronald (Catherine) Abraham of Perth, Marion (Michael) Kratky of Northville, Dorothy Plunz of Amsterdam and Marvin Abraham of Amsterdam. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Abraham, his eldest brother, George Abraham, a niece, Darlene Hill and nephews, Mark Abraham and Raymond Abraham, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1168 Western Ave., Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
