Donald E. Leary

GLENMONT, NY – Donald E. Leary, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Albany, Mr. Leary had resided in Glenmont for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Don was a railroad engineer for many years, retiring from Conrail. He was a great lover of dogs. Don was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Hotaling) Leary. He is the devoted father of Bill Leary, George Leary, Linda Phillips and the late Donald Leary. He is the cherished grandfather of Lynette Radford, Leah Pawley, Erica and Heather Leary and Greg Phillips. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Devin, Brice and Eloise.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Donald E. Leary.
