Donald E. Valyou Sr.

June 16, 1936 — May 9, 2013

LATHAM – Donald E. Valyou Sr., 76, of Latham, passed away on Thursday May 9, 2013 at the Inn of Community Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Randall and Margaret Leahy Valyou. Don was predeceased in 2010 by his wife Margaret A. Valyou. He was employed at Red Star Express Lines in Glenmont for over 20 years. Don was a member of the Teamsters Local 294. He was a proud member of the Army Reserves where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a hunting enthusiast.
Don is the devoted father of Joanne (Thomas) Anderson of Averill Park, Donald E. (Cindy) Valyou Jr. of Saratoga Springs and Margaret R. Valyou (John Rowe) of Cary, NC. He is the brother of Marge Wood. Don is the cherished grandfather of Don (Kelly) Ewing, Jodi (Dave) Wilbert, Sabrina (Ryan) Kent, Josh Anderson, Heather, Amy and Samantha Valyou. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday morning at 9:30 at Calvary Cemetery, Rt 9W, Glenmont. There will be no calling hours at the request of the family. Memorial contributions are preferred to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Donald E. Valyou Sr.
