Donald F. Wieland, Sr.

Donald Francis Wieland. Sr., 79, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on November 23, 1933, in Albany NY to the late Frederick Wieland and Helen Wieland. On August 5, 1955, Donald married the love of his life, the late Dolores (Riechert) Wieland. Donald retired in 1986, after a serious accident on the job. Donald was employed at Cargill Grain in Albany for a number of years. Donald was a dedicated husband and a wonderful father to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and could often be found fishing or playing the slots. Donald was a member of the Albany America Legion post. In addition to his parents and his wife he was predeceased by his brother, Fredrick Wieland.

Left to cherish Donald's loving memory are his children, Tina and husband Ronald Beauparlant of Schenectady, NY, Kathleen and husband John Ortgies of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rosemary and husband Howard Williams of Schenectady, NY, Suzanne and husband Raymond Evans of Ft. Meyers, FL., Donald and wife Rose Wieland of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He is the adored grandfather of, David, Ronald. II, Tamara, Jeanette, John Henry. Jr, Danielle, Paul, Raymond Jr., Michael, Ronald, Candie, Tiffany and Amanda.

His cherished great grandfather of nine. Donald is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Geraldine Carville, Helen LaBello, Richard Wieland. Sr. and Ruth Wade.

Funeral Services for Donald will be Monday at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at the funeral home.
