SELKIRK – Donald J. Pitts, 75, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his son's home in Watervliet, with his loving family by his side.
Donald was born on June 23, 1937 in Albany and was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Kapp) Pitts. He served his country proudly in the US Army. He was a sign maker for Albany Interstate Signs in Colonie for many years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on his laptop. He was a member of the VFW Post 8692 in Colonie and the Bucci-McTague Post 1530 American Legion.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Pitts; his loving children, Donald E. Pitts, Stephen C. Pitts (Elizabeth), Ruth C. Roark (David), and Vera L. Devine (William); his eight devoted grandchildren, Melanie, John, Jennifer, Donald, Anthony, David, Dawn, and Brittany; his three cherished great grandchildren, twins, Tyler and Tanner and Anton; his brothers, James, Thomas, Francis, Bernard, David, and William; his sisters, Linda, Kathy, and Diane and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard and his sisters, Joan, Mary, Barbara, and Dawn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
