Donald J. Ploof, Sr.
July 8, 1933 — August 30, 2012
Donald J. Ploof, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 30, 2012 with his family by his side. He has joined his brothers Ernest Ploof and Richard Ploof, his parents Salina and John Ploof and his beloved wife Nellie Ploof in eternal rest. He was born in Chateaugay, NY and lived most of his adult years in the Capital District. Donald proudly served with the United States Army.
He is survived by his children, Margaret (Jim) Mooney, John (Judy) Ploof, Mary (John) Viola, Tine Ploof (Earl Lawrence) and Donald (Tina) ploof, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters Theresa LaMotte and Ann (Larry) Whiting and 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association Albany NY Office Pine West Plaza Bldg. 2, Suite 204 Washington Ave. Ext. Albany, NY 12205 in Donald's memory.
The family would also invite you to bring in your favorite photo of Donald to the calling hours to share your favorite memories.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Donald on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Interment will follow in the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. The family will receive friends for calling on Tuesday from 4 to 8 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
