COLONIE – Donald J. Primeau, Jr., 73, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 after a courageous and brief battle. Don was the son of the late Donald and Margaret (Tatton) Primeau, Sr.
Don, who was lovingly known as "Padre" to his daughters, was a lifelong resident of Colonie. He served his country in the United States Navy. Don was a well known and loved custodian for South Colonie Central Schools for 20+ years. He was a 50-year member of the Fuller Road Fire Department and their Royal Order of Funsters. Don held numerous officers' positions and was currently holding a position of Fire Police. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and reading. Don also enjoyed movies, especially James Bond. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Don will be missed by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Dorr) Primeau; children Theresa (Michael) O'Keefe of Loudonville, Cynthia (Christopher) Calabrese of Colonie and Lori (Daniel) Kunker of Latham; grandchildren Taylor and Hailee Calabrese, Katelyn and Erin O'Keefe, and Daniel and Matthew Kunker; his canine companion Meau Bunkers, and several nieces and nephews.
A brief prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the service at 10:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 in Don's name.
