LOUDONVILLE, NY - Donald "Don" K. Jackson, 79, passed away peacefully Friday July 25, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Basil and Mary Jackson. He worked for New York Telephone Co. starting out as a cable splicer's apprentice and worked his way up to District Manager of Directory Assistance. Don worked for over thirty years with the phone company retiring at age 53. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, being able to hunt, fish, wood carve and downhill ski. In his retirement, he especially enjoyed time spent with family. He and his wife Joan of 54 years, were able to vacation in Hawaii for the last 25 years and reside there for 5 months a year for some of those years. He was a member of the Troy Elks, the Clifton Park Sportsman's Club and a past member and president of the Ravena Coeymans Yacht Club. In addition to his wife Joan, Don is survived by his son Jeffrey and his wife, Lynn and their children; Ashley, Erin, Matthew and Deanna.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 7:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
