Donald L. Frey, Sr.

COLONIE – Donald L. "Pop" Frey, Sr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. He was born in Albany and lived in the Albany and Colonie area for all of his life. Mr. Frey was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during the Korean War. He worked for Empire Glass for many years before their closing, then went to work for New York State Office of General Services from where he retired. Pop was a member of the Midway Fire Dept., the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the West Albany Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting. Pop is the beloved husband of 59 years to Margaret M. Frey. He is the devoted father of Donald L. (Sandra) Frey, Jr. and Frederick J. (Rose) Frey, all of Colonie. He is the cherished grandfather of Erica, Mark, Brandon, Justin and Nathan Frey. Pop is also survived by his brother, Ralph Frey.
Funeral services with full departmental honors will be Friday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
