Donald L. Kelly

COLONIE - Donald L. Kelly, 83, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born in Albany, the son of the late Charles and Grace (Schreiner) Kelly. Donald graduated from Schuyler High School and received his bachelor's degree from Cortland State. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He taught and coached for the Albany Public Schools for 34 years. In retirement he worked at the Colonie Golf Course. He was an honorary life member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and was active in sports all his life, and an avid follower of his grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemary C. (McHugh) Kelly. He is survived by his children, Deborah Kelly of Colonie and Michael (Gina) Kelly of Avon, Ohio; his grandchildren, Alex, Brian and Catherine Kelly of Avon, Ohio; his brother, Lawrence Kelly; his sister, Barbara Seebode; his stepmother, Genevieve Kelly and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Kelly.
The funeral service will be Thursday 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
