COLONIE – Donald W. LaQue, 85, of Colonie, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ballston Spa, he was the son of the late Moses and Eva LaQue. Mr. LaQue was an Albany area resident for all of his life. He was U.S. Coast Guard veteran, serving his country during World War II. Don worked for General Electric Company as a plumber and steamfitter for 23 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. LaQue was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don is the beloved husband of 61 years to Betty Romand LaQue. He is the devoted father of Donald C. LaQue and his wife Helen of Colonie. He is the brother of Moses J. (Diana) LaQue of Colonie and the late Howard LaQue and Clara Hawley. He is the cherished grandfather of James Donald LaQue and his wife, Hope of Rotterdam and Mark William LaQue and his wife, Susan of Syracuse. He is the loving great-grandfather of Brennan, Sydney and Meredith LaQue. He is the brother-in-law of Joseph (Margaret) Romand, Martha Romand and James Romand. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Don's family would like to thank Dr. John Jaski and the nurses at Riverview Cancer Center and the staff of Community Hospice of Schenectady for all of the loving care and support they gave to him during his illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 9:00 at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Donald W. LaQue.
