Latham - Donald E. Lebentritt, 97, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 at Shaker Place. Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Stephen and Marcella (Gontier) Lebentritt and the loving husband of Barbara (Guerin) Lebentritt.
Don worked at Norton Co. in Watervliet for over 40 years and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, cars, and music. His interests varied over the years from golfing in Freer Park, the Troy Pistol League and numerous bowling leagues. He loved to reminisce about the "good old days…", share his smile with everyone around and tease Barbara, his wife of 61 years.
Don found joy watching his two grandsons, Nathan and Jonathon, whether in person or online, enjoying brownie sundaes and all things peanut butter. Known for his good humor, charm and his welcoming and drawn out, 'Hello's' sounding like 'Yellow', he was adored by both staff and fellow guests at Shaker Place.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Donald Jr. (Carla) Lebentritt and Michael (Rejane) Lebentritt; grandchildren, Nathan and Jonathon, and his sister, Julia (Armando) Soto as well as many others who knew and loved him. His family is forever grateful for the generous support of his next door neighbors, Gerry and Marie, other neighbors, friends and especially the compassionate caregivers from Shaker Place.
A prayer service will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Monday, September 11, 2023 and will begin at 4:30. Visitation will follow the service from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Please consider a donation made to the charity of your choice in Donald's honor instead of flowers.

He will be missed, though not forgotten, until someday we can once again hear him say "Yellow!"
