COLONIE, NY – Donald M. Marilla, Sr., 83, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2007 after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and lived in Colonie for 42 years. Mr. Marilla was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was a radio operator during World War II. He worked for Williams Press until retiring in 1975. More recently, he worked for the Times Union from where he also retired. Mr. Marilla was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and especially loved spending time with his family. Donald was the beloved husband of 60 years to Frances M. Marilla. He is the devoted father of Diane Rizzo and her husband, Anthony of East Greenbush, Donald Marilla, Jr. and his wife, Robin of Guilderland and Mark Marilla and his wife, Marianne of Milford, CT. He is the cherished grandfather of Michelle (Thomas) Daly, Jennifer (Mark) Kamauff and Kristina Marilla. He is the loving great-grandfather of Mark Kamauff and Nicole Daly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning at 9:00 at St. Francis de Sales Church on Maria Drive, Loudonville. Calling hours will be Monday July 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in memory of Donald M.
