NISKAYUNA, NY – Donald M. Montanye, 76, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Robert and Anna Montanye. Mr. Montanye lived in the Capital District for all of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during the Korean War. Don worked in equipment sales for many years. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America since 1953. Mr. Montanye received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award given by the local Boy Scout council as well as the St. George Award being the highest Catholic award. Don is the beloved husband of 52 years to Dorothy H. Montanye. He is the devoted father of David Montanye of Stephens City, VA, Deborah (Dennis) Altrock of Niskayuna and Douglas (Theresa) Montanye of Colonie. He is the brother of M. Barbara Montanye of Amsterdam and the late Robert Montanye and Jean LaRose. He is the cherished grandfather of Robert, Michael, Daniel and Peter Montanye, Amanda and Sara Altrock and Stephen Montanye.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Church of St. Clare, Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
