ROTTERDAM- Donald N. Carlino, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, with his family at his side.
He was born on August 25, 1935 to the late Nicholas and Agnes (Doyle) Carlino in Albany, NY. Don was employed with Tobin Packing Company for 29 years. He later worked at New York State OMRDD until his retirement in 1998. For many years, Don was also involved with the Albany Whitehall Little League.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making those around him smile. He was well loved by everyone he met. Despite any challenges or set backs as a result of his lifelong health issues, Don maintained a positive outlook and was determined to live life to the fullest. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Johnson) Carlino; his children, Kathleen (Paul) Heaphy, Donna (David) Jurczynski, Donald (Aprile) Carlino, Jr.; grandchildren, Joseph (Emily) Heaphy, Brian (Stacy) Heaphy, David Heaphy, Courtney (Joshua) Speed, Lauren Jurczynski, Carli Jurczynski, John Jurczynski, Nicholas Carlino, Lauren (Tyler) Beecher, Daniel Saleem; great-grandsons, Liam and Nolan Heaphy; sister, Patricia (Edward) Evans; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson, Dawn (Joseph) O'Connor, Gail (Arthur Benoit) Matteo; brother-in-law, Ronald (Ruth) Johnson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donald was predeceased by his brother, Anthony (Marilyn) Carlino; sister, Rosemary (Joseph) Vita and his brothers-in-law, George Johnson and Joseph Matteo.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Donald's life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:30am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Friends and family are invited to visit the family from 5-8pm on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery following Mass.
Donald's family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital and St. Peter's Hospice Inn for the care and compassion given to their family.
