Donald Percy Brathwaite, 71, the youngest son of Agatha Forbes and Earnest Brathwaite (both deceased) was born on May 15, 1943 in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. There he attended Road Town Primary school. He then moved to St. Thomas where he trained to become a mason. In St. Thomas he met Anna Rivera. They later got married, and the union produced three children.
Donald, otherwise known as Percy, relocated to New York where he became a United States Citizen. He joined the United States Army as a soldier and was later deployed to Vietnam and fought in the Vietnam War. Percy was eager to defend his country and left with an honorable discharge.
On December 13, 2014, Percy went home to be with the Lord. He left to mourn two sons, Chris Brathwaite, Donald Brathwaite Jr. one daughter, Tisha Brathwaite, a daughter-in-law, Arlene Brathwaite, a sister, Camelia Rawleigh–Campbell, special nieces, Iona Potter-Jones, Nalda Fonseca and Pearlette Forbes, favorite cousins, Wanda Scattiffe and Melrose Bishop, special friends, Nowell Scattiffe, Arlington Hodge, Cromwell Forbes and several grandchildren and other relatives and friends which are too numerous to mention.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. Burial will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
