ROTTERDAM – Donald R. Griffin, 67, of Rotterdam, passed away on Sunday November 29, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Troy and was the son of the late Robert S. and Mildred A. Griffin. Don proudly served in the US Air Force from 1961 through 1965. Donald served as a member of the Army National Guard for several years.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company for several years and the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring from federal government.
Don was known for his avid interest in rebuilding and beautifying classic cars. He could often be found with friends "at the lot" or "cruisin around". There was always a friend in the garage visiting him. His garage door was always open and all were welcome to stop by. He also loved his "kittys" Pablo & Baby. He was a kindhearted, honest man who was loved by all. Above all he was a proud loving father who was truly devoted to his daughter Vicki A. Rodriquez and her husband Israel. He is the brother of Marlene B. Lawrence and Denise E. Griffin. He is the uncle of Ted J. Lawrence. Nephew of the late Charles and Dorothy Gill. He will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Saratoga National VA Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 in memory of Donald R. Griffin.
