Delmar- Donald J. Studler, 71, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Donald was the son of the late Albin and Nina Studler. Donald was the devoted husband to Pamela Studler. They were married 48 loving years.
Don served eight year in the army, first as an infantry soldier, then with the Army Security Agency as a teletype operator. In 1969, he went through OCS and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. After serving as a Tactical Officer for OCS Candidates at Fort Benning. He attended Flight School, where he became a helicopter pilot. He served in Vietnam from 1970-71, where he rose to the rank of Captain. He was assigned to the 11th CAG as a medivac and assault helicopter pilot based out of Marble Mountain. He served in the military with distinction, and the discipline and patriotism he learned in the army, never left him, as friends and family will attest.
Don is survived by his children, Eileen and Darren; siblings, Richard (Alice) Studler, Cora Mae (Rod) Stanfield; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Don was predeceased by his brother, Albin A. Studler, Jr., and his nephew, Robert Stanfield.
A Memorial service will be held at The Good Samaritan Chapel, 125 Rockefeller Road, Delmar, NY on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10:30 am. Inurnment will immediately follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY, at 2:00 pm.
