Donald W. Burleski

COLONIE – Donald W. Burleski, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Walter and Jozefy Burchalewski. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1996 from Al Tech Specialty Steel after forty-four years of service. Don had a strong faith in God and enjoyed being with his family. He had fun fishing, visiting the casinos and woodworking. Don is the beloved husband of 51 years to Patricia Burleski. He is the devoted father of Sherry (George) Stark, Cindy (Keith) Aubin, Timothy (Karen) Burleski and Steven Burleski. Don is the cherished grandfather of Sarah and Russell Stark, Alina Aubin, Jake Burleski and Becky Cusack. He is the loving great-grandfather of Kaycie Cusack. Also surviving is his sister, Mary "Mecca" (Joseph) Wygel and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his thirteen siblings. Don will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and best friend.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 to 1:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Donald W. Burleski.
