Donald W. Guthrie
October 27, 1924 — November 21, 2015
Latham- Donald W. Guthrie, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21st, 2015. Donald was the son of the late Alfred and Helen Guthrie.
Donald proudly served in the Navy during WWII receiving the following medals: Purple Heart, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, and World War II Victory. He enjoyed trips to Europe, summers at Brant Lake and wintering in Puerto Rico and Florida. He loved to watch sports and his backyard birds.
Donald was the devoted husband to Geraldine. They were married 66 years. He will also be dearly missed by his son, Jeffrey (Beverly) Guthrie, daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Newton, sister in law, Lucille Guthrie, grand children; Stuart and Zachary, great grand daughter, Taylor Rae, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother Alfred Guthrie, Jr., step mother, Ruth Guthrie.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, Albany, on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a service at 11:00am and a burial to follow at the St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leatherstocking Honor Flight, P.O. Box 621, Cobleskill, NY 12043
