Donald C. Wrieden

Latham- Donald Charles Wrieden, 88, died April 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at St. Peters Hospice. He was born on July 28, 1936, in Queens, NY the son of late William Frederick and Evelyn (Ziegler) Wrieden.

Don graduated from Elementary School PS.54 In Jamaica Queens, Stony Brook High School on Long Island, Syracuse University and Bates University. He received both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Landscape Architect. Don served in the military. Don worked for New York State for 39 years. After retirement he worked another 20 years at Home Depot.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Fred his wife Janet, father-in-law Harold Valentine, dear friends Richard Schmidt and Dick Taylor and many more friends.

Survived by his loving wife Gail Ann Wrieden, son Zachary E. Wrieden his wife Emily, Laura Dolan and Greg Dolan. One granddaughter Chelsea Baratto and her husband Nick. One great grandson Luca Baratto. Dear friends Peggy Schmidt and Peg Taylor.

Don was a member and President of Kiwanis, member and President of A.A.R.P, and member and President of Albany Garden Club.

Don was a super gardener, the property around the house was always a showplace, He had flowers everywhere and a vegetable garden. After downsizing Don had flowers around the apartment.

Don loved traveling and camping. To many places including Manhattan, Florida, Myrtle Beach, California, Maine, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Alaska Campobello Island, all Canadian Provinces and Disney World.

He enjoyed going to the theater, visiting with friends, going to restaurants, coaching baseball for Zachary and Greg, and helping Gail with her special needs programs for children.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, New York 12189 on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a funeral service to begin at 5:00 pm.
