Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorraine Zorichak, daughter Deborah D’Orazio, sister Janet Miller, granddaughters Moriah (Chris) and Adriana D’Orazio, great-grandson Carson, nephews Mark (Kelly) and Eric (Jana) Miller, and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his son, Donnie M. Zorichak and parents Mary and Stephen Zorichak.
Don was born on November 16, 1941 in Connellsville, PA, but grew up in Cleveland, OH. After high school, Don joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Saratoga Springs, NY. During this time, Don met his wife Lorraine, and they decided to remain in the capital region to spend the rest of their years together. After serving in the USAF, Don became an electrician and worked at General Electric in Schenectady for 30 years, where he retired from.
Don was known as the “handy-man” of his family. When he was not helping others fix their things, he was keeping his lawn, car, and home neat and tidy. While Don was pleased with the simplicity of his day-to-day routine, he loved nothing more than getting to be a husband, father and “poppy” to his family. Don looked forward to getting his great-grandson off the school bus, getting breakfast at the diner, doing the morning word searches, and keeping everyone up to date on what was going on in the news. He took great pride in caring for those around him, especially his wife, Lorraine.
Thank you for your service - for what you’ve given to this country and to our family. Forever in our hearts.
